That's what we needed... After a run of bad games Liz finally made the game it's own. After dealing it was felt to have been too early with 3 of the power five available but with the immediate departure of the £250K calmed a few fears. The game ended in a good old fashioned spanking.

This was just the fourth Banker spanking of season 4, and it just goes to show that it really hasn't been all that spectacular so far - especially when one also considers that the biggest payout is still Mike's £23k. In stark contrast, there'd been a whole load of Banker spankings at this stage last season, and quite a number of contestants had won over £30k - including Daniel who won £75k in one of the all-time classic games.

But crumbs, surely Noel must have some idea at this stage that the Banker does like offering £16,500. It's getting to be rather like his £26k trump card. And why does this site still refer to Whitey as Matthew, when that only lasted for his first show?

Seeing as it came for the first time in the season today, is there anyone who actually approves of the Banker's Gamble? If you look at it, it's basically bringing the player back into live play even though they've dealt, and the Banker's offer is what they had dealt at. And another thing, whenever he offers the BG, we never actually find out what the sixth offer would have been, so we never know whether its a victory for the player. What does everyone think?

And just to agree with your point Des, the average money won in the first 30 shows of this season (excluding bonuses) is £6,779, whereas in previous seasons it's been between £17,000 and £20,000. Fairly shocking stat I'd say.

Can't disagree with you there James, that is a fairly shocking stat. On top of that, the first week of season 4 - DOND's unluckiest week ever - attracted just 1.6 million viewers, AND was beaten by Wogan's Perfect Recall. It makes it even clearer that the show could well do with a recharge - and that means a string of big money wins (£25k plus) and seriously great contestants.

Hey guys, It was my show & I made the deal at the right time. To me £16500 was a life changing sum of money having had to retire due to disability at the age of 44. However, when the banker offered me his gamble I told him that I had been having a recurring dream about my show & box 21, which always had either £35k or £75k in it. If he had offered me the swap & the bankers gamble I would have won £75k & given him a thorough spanking but he didn't & I went away with a creditable £16500 which has changed my life completely. I am a very happy bunny. Just to add though, the best thing I got out of deal or no deal was the friendship of all the other contestants who will be friends for life, that's more important than any money I might have won.
